I wanted a fairly simple layout in terms of patterned paper but wanted to recreate the comotion that is always found near the seashore with breaking waves and lots of birds. I decided to cut out several extra birds and waves from the cut file and re-create a seashore on this page. A little glitter and diamond glaze to mimic the water and a little round gem to mimic the light in the lighthouse and I was all set.
FEELING FROSTY - July 14, 2010 - Fairbanks, Alaska JOURNALING: We visited the Ice Museum with its fantastic ice sculptures and watched a demonstration on how the ice is carved from huge chunks with power tools. I could not convince Matt to take a nap in the ice house. I decided that I wanted to use on this layout so I went about "building" my title of Feeling Frosty. I started out by tracing the letters on my kraft background paper with a pencil. I lightly erased the pencil marks so they would not show through on my final image. Then I traced all the outlines of the letters with small dots using my Liquid Pearls. Once that was dry, I filled the inside of the letters with my Star Dust Stickles. After even more drying time, I filled in the letters with Diamond Glaze to give them so dimension and shine. Perfect title with no alphabets or Cricut needed.

CUDDLY COUPLE - October 11, 2010 - Haines, Alaska JOURNALING: A pair of Bald Eagles nestle in a tree together near the Chilkoot river. PHOTOS: Bald Eagle images by Shetzers Photography SUPPLIES USED: Little Yellow Bicycle Vita Bella patterned paper, DCWV Neutrals cardstock, Art Advantage paint in Hookers Green, Doodlebug Design Paper frills, Fonts are CK General Store and AR Julian, Sketch by PageMaps (page 16), Stampendous Pattern Trio Stamp, K&Company Brenda Walton patterned paper, Sharpie pen for journaling, Stampin Up Dot Dot Dot stamp, Versa color ink in Bamboo, Stampabilities Brown ink, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine TECHNIQUE TIP: I always have problems matching the mountains of flowers that I have with my layouts to get the perfect color. I did not have the perfect green for these flowers so I started out with some white flowers and then used my glimmer mist (olive vine color) to create some neat variations in color on the flowers. Once they were dry, I stamped them with my Stampin Up Dot Dot Dot stamp in brown to help give them some definition. I then cut one flower in half and adhered to the top and beneath my journaling tag. Easy perfectly matched flowers!!

The SS (Steamships) were a huge factor in the movement of people and goods but when they were obsolete, they were brought to this graveyard to slowly decay into the river. Such a sad farewell to these unique riverboats.
